A science company
that ferments instead of refines.
Motherferment is the consumer brand of Bioferment Technologies, a Florida-based microbial-fermentation company. We are not a marketing studio that hired a chemist. We are a chemistry team that hired a marketer — and only after the lab work was on file.
It started under a sink at the wrong birthday party.
In 2022, our scientific founder Mark Queenan — decades at DuPont, retired — was at a one-year-old's birthday party in Winter Park, Florida. He watched the host wipe down the high chair with a spray that listed "fragrance" as ingredient three.
He went home and wrote twelve names on a yellow legal pad. Twelve specific molecules he knew were in that bottle, none of which the label disclosed. He spent the next six months mapping a fermentation pathway that would replace all twelve.
In 2023, Mark partnered with Dr. Helena Reyes at the University of Florida's IFAS program to validate the formula. The first MF-01 batch shipped in April 2025. The first 1,000 households were fully refunded if they didn't love it. 973 of them re-ordered.
Four years. One can.
Six lab reports.
No "rocket-ship growth" graph. No Series-D announcement. The honest log of what we built and when.
The names that sign the reports.
If you read the lab PDFs on the Science page, these are the signatures you find. They're the same people answering customer email.
Three pledges we won't break, even when it would be easier.
The brand's North Star, in writing. Hold us to these — by email, by tweet, by lawsuit if we ever break them.
The chemists answer the email.
Press, retail, partnerships, or "is the can really one ingredient short of food-grade" — write to the inbox below. The same humans on this page read it.
